OUR HISTORY
In 1991, John McColl graduated from the Pasadena Art Center College of Design with a bachelor degree in Advertising Design. The only problem was that the economy was in a recession at the time and many advertising agencies weren't hiring new graduates. After making many fruitless trips up and down elevators to leave his portfolio with various advertising agencies only to have the receptionist pile his portfolio in with all the other candidates' work, he knew there had to be a better way to get his work noticed.
That's when he came up with his first successful real world advertising idea. The first elevator wrap. A full size photo of himself stuck in an elevator door with a business card in his hand that said he was dying to get a start in advertising. And that began his career in advertising...

After working for major advertising firms in Los Angeles creating campaigns for Apple Computers, Novell Software, and Northrop Grumman, he and his wife Rebecca moved to Sacramento where he accepted a marketing management position at The Active Network, Inc. promoting their government software applications and growing their customer base by over 500 percent.
Deep inside, John had always had the entrepreneurial drive and was motivated to begin building his own service oriented business. The sign industry offered the perfect opportunity to blend his intense interest in businesses of all kinds with his advertising and marketing knowledge.
As a buyer of advertising and sign solutions from a variety of vendors, John was amazed by the customer service and consistent product quality provided by one vendor in particular, Sign-A-Rama. From start to finish the process was streamlined and very efficient.
After investigating further, John and Rebecca soon learned that Sign-A-Rama is the worlds largest full service sign franchise.
Founded in 1986 by Ray and Roy Titus. Sign-A-Rama started with a single store in Farmingdale, New York and expanded into North Palm Beach less than a year later. Today there are over 850 franchises in 35 countries and nearly every U.S. state.
John and Rebecca began asking about franchise opportunities in the Sacramento market.
In 2005, they opened the Sign-A-Rama Natomas location. Sign-A-Rama was founded on the philosophy that if you take care of your customers, your customers will take care of you. Now in their fourth year, Signarama Natomas has proven the truth in that foundation again and again!
2009 promises to bring even more opportunities for the Signarama Natomas team to provide superior service to our customers with new web services to be introduced soon!
